Deep Interview(3)

Global

Adele: Actually, it is. It’s free and it’s performing arts, but it’s not a stage school. I can’t dance, I can’t act, never will. I’m not going to write a biography, not going to release a perfume, or a big girls’ clothing line, not going to do anything like that - so I just did music. I remember wanting to go to Sylvia Young [theatre school] because Baby Spice went there, but my mum couldn’t afford it.

I didn’t have some rich daddy who built me a studio. But kids I knew who went to stage school are snobby and arrogant and rude and nasty; I would have hated to grow up around people like that. My first school was great but I’d have a kid by now if I hadn’t left there for the Brit school - and as much as I’d like to have a kid I’m not ready for one now.

Journalist: You have got a reputation for being quite bolshie.

Adele: Yes, I guess I am quite spoilt. I’m an only child. I’m used to having people listen to me. I am bolshie, yeah. I have an opinion. I don’t want to be this girl who just sits there and is told what to say in interviews. My mum taught me how to be independent and not take any bullshit.
