This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th IFIP WG 6.1 International Conference on Formal Methods for Open Object-Based Distributed Systems， FMOODS 2006， held in Bologna， Italy in June 2006.The 16 revised full papers presented together with an invited paper and abstracts of 2 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 51 submissions.
