威廉·林賽,英籍長(zhǎng)城學(xué)者,畢業(yè)于英國(guó)利物浦大學(xué)地理地質(zhì)專(zhuān)業(yè)。1987年成功獨(dú)步長(zhǎng)城2470公里。2000年起專(zhuān)門(mén)探索、研究、保護(hù)長(zhǎng)城和傳播長(zhǎng)城文化。已出版《威廉:我的長(zhǎng)城生活》《虛擬長(zhǎng)城展:50件長(zhǎng)城文物》《萬(wàn)里長(zhǎng)城百年回望》《萬(wàn)里長(zhǎng)城百題問(wèn)答》《亞洲印象:長(zhǎng)城》等著作。因在長(zhǎng)城保護(hù)和促進(jìn)中英友好方面所作貢獻(xiàn),榮獲中國(guó)國(guó)務(wù)院頒發(fā)的“友誼獎(jiǎng)?wù)?rdquo;(1998年);英國(guó)女王伊麗莎白二世陛下頒發(fā)的“大英帝國(guó)勛章”(2006年);北京市人民頒發(fā)的長(zhǎng)城“友誼獎(jiǎng)牌”(2008年)?;楹笈c妻子吳琪和兩個(gè)兒子(詹姆斯和托馬斯)長(zhǎng)期居住在北京。William Lindesay OBE is a British geographer, a research fellow at Liverpool University, a member of The Explorers Club and a recent recipient of The Special Award of the Royal Society for Asian Affairs. After a journey on foot along the Great Wall in 1987 he settled in China in 1990, and has been dedicated to Great Wall studies since 2000.Lindesay has spent an estimated 2,800 days on the Great Wall. He curated The Great Wall Revisited exhibit, shown in nine venues across China, and has published six books on his subject, including Alone on the Great Wall and The Great Wall Explained. A popular presenter, he has fronted documentaries for National Geographic and Discovery channels, while versions of his Flying the Great Wall have been broadcast in more than 40 countries. Lindesay received the Friendship Award of China in 1998 and the Beijing Great Wall Friendship Award in 2008.William Lindesay is married to Qi, whose name means ‘Beautiful Jade’. They live beside the Great Wall at Jiankou, Beijing.
