本研究通過經(jīng)濟計量學的研究方法，研究了小額信貸公司對宏觀經(jīng)濟發(fā)展的影響，以及是否能夠幫助貧困人口脫貧致富，同時還研究了小額貸款公司的服務范圍與可持續(xù)性之間的取舍問題， 本研究的實證分析基于一個獨特的面板數(shù)據(jù)庫。包含了四個不同的數(shù)據(jù)源來組合和創(chuàng)建這個面板數(shù)據(jù)庫。這些來源包括：小額信貸信息交換（MIX）市場、國際貨幣基金組織（IMF）、雅虎金融和世界銀行的世界發(fā)展指標（WDI）。單個MFI數(shù)據(jù)來自MIX Market information platform維護的數(shù)據(jù)庫。關于宏觀經(jīng)濟指標的數(shù)據(jù)，這一資料來自世界銀行的《世界發(fā)展指標》。在拉丁美洲和世界，已經(jīng)建立了一個面板數(shù)據(jù)集，這為我們提供了一個獨特的機會，利用現(xiàn)有數(shù)據(jù)類型的變化以及機構規(guī)模和地點、法律和利潤狀況、目標市場和國家一級宏觀經(jīng)濟指標的變化等方面去研究了小額信貸公司對宏觀經(jīng)濟發(fā)展的影響，以及是否能夠幫助貧困人口脫貧致富，同時還研究了小額貸款公司的服務范圍與可持續(xù)性之間的取舍問題。
