《Basic Readers》是美國現(xiàn)代時期一套廣泛使用的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化英語閱讀課本,在美國學(xué)校一直使用到20 世紀(jì)70 年代?!睹绹鴮W(xué)?,F(xiàn)代英語閱讀教材》由芝加哥大學(xué)閱讀研究專家、世界閱讀學(xué)會首任會長威廉·格雷教授與著名教材專家威廉·愛爾森共同編寫。從選文篇幅、詞匯難度、故事內(nèi)容、課后練習(xí)、插圖使用等方面,編者都做了精心考量?!睹绹鴮W(xué)?,F(xiàn)代英語閱讀教材》以綜合培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的朗讀(oral reading)與默讀(silentreading)技巧為目的,讓孩子們學(xué)會閱讀,并通過閱讀為今后的人生階段打下基礎(chǔ)。對中國孩子來講,這是一套循序漸進(jìn)地進(jìn)行英語閱讀訓(xùn)練的優(yōu)秀讀本。適合從學(xué)前階段開始,向小學(xué)和中學(xué)階段擴展訓(xùn)練。本冊為第五級,從本冊開始正文中加注了單詞解釋,建議閱讀前可以先熟悉這些詞匯,以減少閱讀中因生詞而停頓的現(xiàn)象。課后也出現(xiàn)了閱讀理解問題,建議學(xué)生認(rèn)真練習(xí)。有些題也可以口述做答,訓(xùn)練英語思維與口語。同時提供配套英文朗讀免費下載,讓孩子在閱讀精彩故事的同時亦能更好練習(xí)英語發(fā)音。 This set of textbookreaders was used in the schools of the United States till 1970s. It was thefirst reading series to enforce strict vocabulary control over selections.William S. Gray, a renowned educational psychologist and reading authority fromthe University of Chicago became a senior co-author with William H. Elson increating this series.The authors haveattempted to provide an interesting, purposeful, and comprehensive readingcourse for children. To achieve this purpose the authors have assembledmaterials from the worldwide field of children’s favorite readings. Thus basicreading attitudes and habits are developed through the purposeful use ofinteresting and significant content. Using this series of readers, the childrencan learn to read first, and then read to learn in their future life.
