《新世紀大學英語系列教材·普通高等教育“十一五”國家級規(guī)劃教材:綜合教程5(學生用書)》前四冊旨在幫助高校學生在中學英語學習的基礎上,進一步提高和完善“聽”、“說”、“讀”、“寫”、“譯”諸方面的基本技能,實現(xiàn)《大學英語課程教學要求》規(guī)定的“一般要求”的教學目標,并向“較高要求”的目標過渡。第五、六冊則協(xié)同《視聽說教程》、《閱讀教程》、《快速閱讀》和《寫作教程》的第五、六冊引導學習者實現(xiàn)“較高要求”的教學目標。本冊為第五冊的學生用書。第五冊按照篇章的修辭模式編排課文,旨在引導學習者熟悉篇章的修辭模式,把握篇章的內在邏輯和層次體系,弄清文章脈絡,從而準確地理解篇章的主旨和作者的寫作意圖,鑒賞作者的寫作技巧;教學重點也從句、段的理解轉向通篇分析和寫作技巧的鑒賞,把EXPLORE THE WRITER’S IDEAS和EXPLORE THE WRITER’S TECHNIQUES作為課堂教學的主線;所設置的課內和課外學習活動比前四冊更具有思辨性(詳見“寫給同學的話”)。
