Deng Rong.nicknamed Maomao,was born in SouthwestChina's Chongqing City,the fourth child of DengXiaoping. After graduation from the Giris'Middle School attached tothe Beijing Normal University.she went to live and workfor three years in a rural village on the loess plateau in thenorthern part of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province.Later,she studied medicine in and graduated from theBeijing Medical College (today's Medical School ofPeking University). In the early 1980s.she worked for four years first asattache and then third secretary in the Consulate Section ofthe Chinese Embassy in Washington DC.Returning home,she worked in the Research Office of the General Office of the National People's Congress.Appointed the Officedeputy director,she engaged in research in the legislationand legislative systems. She was a deputy to the Eighth National People's Congressand the executive member of the Sixth Ail-China Women's Federation. She is now vice-chairwoman of the China Association forInternational Friendly Contact,vice-chairwoman of theChina Charity Federation.vice-chairwoman of the Sino-Russia Committee for Peace,F(xiàn)riendship and Developmentand executive president of the Beijing Music Festival.Also a member of the Chinese Writers Association,she haspublished many articles in newspapers and magazines.In1993,her biography My Father Deng Xiaoping waspublished.It has been translated into Japanese,Russian,English,F(xiàn)rench,Korean,Thai and Dutch. Her latest book,Deng Xiaoping and the Cultural Revolution,which rolled off the presses in Chinese in 2000.has beentranslated into Korean and published in South Korea.Thebook's Russian and Japanese versions will hit bookstoreslater this year.
