(英國(guó))威爾斯 (Wells.H.G)H.G.威爾斯(Herbert George Wells 1866-1946),英國(guó)著名作家、奇人,一生著作等身,經(jīng)歷奇絕,尤以科幻小說和通俗歷史讀物的創(chuàng)作獲得世界性聲譽(yù)和影響。1895年,威爾斯出版《時(shí)間機(jī)器》,一舉而成名,此后接連推出《莫洛博士島》、《隱身人》、《星際戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)》等書,為20世紀(jì)科幻小說的創(chuàng)作立一高標(biāo)。據(jù)說,二戰(zhàn)期間,愛因斯坦等科學(xué)家提醒羅斯福總統(tǒng)起動(dòng)生產(chǎn)原子彈的曼哈頓計(jì)劃,當(dāng)初也是源自威爾斯的一部叫做《獲得自由的世界》的科幻小說。威爾斯的另一重要成就便是通過《世界史綱》、《世界簡(jiǎn)史》等歷史讀物的創(chuàng)作沖破長(zhǎng)久以來史學(xué)界以西方文明為中心的狹隘觀念,通覽世界各民族所創(chuàng)造的優(yōu)秀文化遺產(chǎn),為20世紀(jì)的學(xué)術(shù)界確立了大歷史觀.H. G. WELLS ,(1866-1946)English novelist, journalist, sociologist, andhistorian, whose science fiction stories have been filmed many times. H.G. Wells's best-known works are The Time Machine (1895), one of the first modem science fiction stories. TheInvisible Man (1897), and The War of the Worlds(1898). Wells wrote over a hundred of books,about fifty of them novels. Wells also wrote nonfiction. His best-sellingthree-volume work, The Outline of History(1920), began a new era of popularized worldhistory. It received a mixed critical responsefrom professional historians. Many otherauthors followed with Outlines of their own inother subjects. Wells reprised his Outline in1922 with a much shorter popular work, A ShortHistory of the World.
