萬里長城百年回望：從玉門關(guān)到老龍頭（英文）

　　作家兼攝影師威廉·林賽畢業(yè)于英國利物浦大學(xué)地質(zhì)地理專業(yè)。1987年，他獨自一人步行考察了長城全線，從嘉峪關(guān)到山海關(guān)行程2470公里，從1990年起他在中國定居，專門從事長城學(xué)研究、長城現(xiàn)場考察、長城文化景觀保護等工作。2001年，威廉·林賽創(chuàng)立了國際長城之友協(xié)會，該協(xié)會與北京市文物局和世界文化遺產(chǎn)基金會等機構(gòu)合作，開展長城保護項目。威廉·林賽20年如一日，始終滿懷激情地從事長城保護工作，其中有1200天用于長城的現(xiàn)場考察。他出版了若干部以長城為主題的著作，包括《獨步長城》（倫敦Hodder出版社1989年出版）、《萬里長城——亞洲的形象》（牛津大學(xué)出版社[香港]2003年出版）等。作為長城保護方面的先驅(qū)倡導(dǎo)者和活動家，1998年他榮獲中國國務(wù)院頒發(fā)的友誼獎?wù)拢?006年榮獲英國女王伊麗莎白二世陛下頒發(fā)的大英帝國勛章。威廉·林賽與妻子吳琪有兩個兒子詹姆斯（12歲）和托馬斯（6歲）。
