《研究生英語聽說教程（引進版）》在突出聽力策略和微技能培訓的同時，通過大量的練習培養(yǎng)學生說、寫能力的教材。本教程共兩冊。兩冊教材在第一章都首先通過各種練習介紹了微技能，使學生真正了解它們在提高聽的能力方面的意義和作用。第一冊圍繞7項微技能進行訓練。第二冊除螺旋式地進一步進行7項微技能訓練外，還增加了兩項難度較高的微技能訓練，即Scanning for Background Information與Revising Assumptions。 值得提出的是，這套教材還注意結(jié)合最常見和最實用的情景，每章圍繞一個主題進行聽力訓練。這些主題覆蓋面廣而且很現(xiàn)實，例如既有日常生活的話題（超市、業(yè)余愛好、旅游等），也有學生十分關(guān)心的主題（就業(yè)選擇、個人困惑、面試、未來事業(yè)等）。由于這套教材是為以英語為外語的學生編寫的。因此它不僅介紹國外的情景，使學生對英語國家的文化習俗有所了解，而且引導學生結(jié)合本國的實際進行比較和討論。這就不僅使學生有話可說。而且有親切感。這套教材的另一個特點就是它有十分豐富的練習，而且是以練習為主體。教材在培養(yǎng)微技能時不是進行理論講解，而是通過大量練習讓學生熟練掌握這些微技能，以取得“從用中學，熟練掌握”的效果。因此，可以說這是一套以聽力技能訓練為主線，全面培養(yǎng)學生綜合運用英語能力的教材，這和我們現(xiàn)在使用的許多單純培養(yǎng)聽力能力的教材有著根本的區(qū)別。練習形式多種多樣，有個人作業(yè)，也有雙人、小組等互動型練習。多數(shù)練習都是開放式的，要求學生主動提供答案。使學生學得主動，練得主動，做到了以學生為中心。本套教材內(nèi)容豐富實用，有一定的難度。適用于具有中、高級英語水平的研究生使用。它既可以與培養(yǎng)閱讀等其它技能的教材配合使用，也可以作為單獨的教材使用。全套教材由學生用書、教師用書、聽力磁帶和MP3光盤組成，使用十分方便。
