《21世紀(jì)研究乍綜合英語》是為了適應(yīng)非英語專業(yè)研究生的英語教學(xué)改革需要而編寫的。本書既體現(xiàn)了“厚基礎(chǔ)，強(qiáng)能力，促創(chuàng)新”的教學(xué)思想，又嚴(yán)格注意了語言的規(guī)范與發(fā)展，選材的嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)與新穎，內(nèi)容的經(jīng)典與前瞻，編排的合理與趣味之問的關(guān)系。課文中既有經(jīng)典的散文、隨筆，更有對熱點(diǎn)問題的討論和反思。本教材分為兩大板塊。第1～8單元為第一板塊，側(cè)重語言基礎(chǔ)的鞏吲與強(qiáng)化，每單元由相關(guān)的三篇文章構(gòu)成，Text A為精讀材料，配有詞匯、完形填空、翻譯、寫作等多種練習(xí)；Texl：B、c為泛讀材料，提供若干閱讀理解練習(xí)及回答問題、正誤選擇練習(xí)。每單元后都附有～‘則English Idiom的小對話。第9～16單元為第二板塊，每單元同樣是相關(guān)的三篇文章，在練習(xí)是有了較大的變動。詞匯練習(xí)改為文化背景導(dǎo)入，翻譯的長度有所增加，寫作改為應(yīng)用文的寫作，如notes?ices，application&recommendation letters.resume，lab＆pertiodic report，1etter of intent，memos&minutes，acadenic paper。writing等。每一單元增加了口語的訓(xùn)練，如mini.talk，group-discussion，role-play，presentation，lecture等，在前8個(gè)單元鼓勵與同伴交流討論的基礎(chǔ)上更強(qiáng)化了team-work的練習(xí)，以培養(yǎng)研究生不僅自己學(xué)，還要與別人，一起學(xué)習(xí)、討淪甚至辯論的學(xué)術(shù)性合作能力?！”緯m用于非英語專業(yè)碩士生、博士生的基礎(chǔ)英語學(xué)習(xí)，亦可作不同層次學(xué)習(xí)者的自學(xué)材料。書后附有練習(xí)答案。
